The Archive for Geography at the IfL ist the largest of its kind in the Geman-speaking countries. It was founded in 1902 by a private scholar and vulcanologist from Leipzig, Alphons Stübel. Today the letters, diaries, manuscripts and route maps of more than 150 geographers and explorers are preserved here. The comprehensive picture library contains historical photographs an postcards, photograph albums and a collection of landscape paintings.
Service and information for users
