Internship programme

As a non-university research institute, we are actively involved in the promotion of junior researchers. For this purpose, we offer a six-week internship program every spring, in which up to 15 students from Germany and abroad can participate.

Contents

The programme combines lectures and excursions with independent project work. The participants thus get an overview of the main research areas, research methods and organisational structures of the institute. On the other hand, students take over specific tasks in current research projects and present their work results in short presentations and posters. Field trips to the city of Leipzig are also part of the internship programme.

Requirements

  • At least fifth semester Bachelor's Degree in Geography or an already started Master's Degree;
  • Interest in regional geographical issues;
  • Familiarity with the methods used in geography;
  • Knowledge of an Eastern European language is an advantage.

Application

Applications for the internship programme 2020 are possible from autumn 2019.
